A Brief Introduction…

Hello!  My name is Jonathan Lombardo, and I am an equine veterinarian.  My practice is based in Red Wing, Minnesota, and I provide ambulatory services to the surrounding area.  I have been the owner of my own veterinary practice for four years, before which I was an equine veterinarian in a multi-doctor practice for several years.  I was trained at the University of Wisconsin – Madison, graduating in the year 2000.  During my training, I spent considerable time at private veterinary practices in Kentucky and Ohio.  I also spent time at Castleton Farm, a 150 year old breeding farm in Lexington, Kentucky.  While there, I acquired substantial experience dealing with equine reproduction.  We also had over 200 foals born on the farm annually, so I was able to be present at plenty of foalings.  I cherish the memories of my time in Kentucky, and I have been known to reminisce at some length about my experiences there.   Since completing my training, my equine caseload has included internal medicine, reproduction,  dentistry, preventive medicine and surgery.  I really enjoy what I do, and I enjoy the people and horses I have the privilege to work with.   New technology and new knowledge are always emerging, so I am always learning new and better ways to care for my patients.

I am married to a wonderful lady named Leah.  We live on a beautiful farm nestled at the base of a limestone bluff near Red Wing, Minnesota.  Leah has a twelve year old Clydesdale/Thoroughbred cross gelding named Rhett, whom she has campaigned in FEI level dressage competition.  I enjoy riding my Quarterhorse gelding named Elmo.  We also have a Clydesdale and two miniature donkeys who keep him company.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to introduce myself.

Very Best Wishes,

Jonathan Lombardo, DVM
